Reflections on/in Kapoor's Sky Mirror

SkydishA must see! British sculptor Anish Kapoor's Sky Mirror at Rockefeller Center. It is three stories tall 35 feet in diameter and weighs 23 tons...only viewable for a short time, until 10/27. Instead of sitting as an unrelated art-for-arts-sake object, the mirror reflects the bustle of the sidewalk and more beautifully the architecture of the center on the concave side...a "non-object." Planning Fear of Water NOLA

Images_31Fear of Water is a community arts project I am curating this October in New Orleans. It is difficult to plan from a distance, but I now have five participating artists and hope for a few drop ins. The New Orleans-based artists are: Mary Jane Parker, Chicory Miles, Jan Gilbert, Malcolm McClay and Lori McWhorter. The project, funded by the Puffin Foundation, will be a weekend long printmaking studio set up at Peligro Gallery on Decatur Street. Fear of Water will be offer the opportunity to explore post-storm thoughts a little over a year after Hurricane Katrina.
