Amnesty for NOLA

Fowcolor45x6loresThe weekend of the Fear of Water Project,Nov. 4-5, there will be an Amnesty International Conference in New Orleans to deconstruct the events after the storm. What better place than New Orleans??? Images of the Superdome are burned into our nation's memory. The Contemporary Art Center (CAC), which has been limping along after the storm, is hosting the opening event. One good thing (and I can only think of one) that occurred as an result of the storm is the ability to raise a conversation about the condition of our nation's poorest citizens.

Armchair Studio Visits

SvburnscvremailA new email has popped into my box, SV or Studio Visits. They feature the works of contemporary artists...seems interesting because it is a more undiscovered layer of the art world. For a view of up-and-coming artist Ian Burns, go to http://www.studiovisit.net/SV.Burns.pdf  SV is an on-line publication that gives you a PDF for viewing. The Burns feature is 28 pages long! You may recognize his work from P.S.1. SV---What a great way to learn about really current art without leaving the comfort of home.

Opening reception: Thursday, June 29, 6-9 pm

I am on the gallery email list and was attracted to this image. Sometimes gallery subscriptions dump too much email into my box. But overall it's great to hear about a sublime show such as Scarritt's.
