School Arts Magazine Special Issue on Design Education

Martin Rayala (Kutztown University) and Paul Sproll (Rhode Island School of Design) have been invited by Davis Publishing to 
co-edit the October 2008 issue of School Arts magazine on Design Education. Articles and content editing must be completed in 
May 2008 so potential articles with photos will need to be identified within the next couple of months.

Annie Leonard passionately put together a 20 minute web-based video on the material production/supply chain. Perhaps a few things are skewed, but I appreciate that she is taking on one part of the education about the huge post-industiral reshaping that must happen. It affects the quality of human life on the planet, as we hear daily on the news.

Documentarian Gary Huswit put together an amazing film about the Modernist font HELVETICA (2007). What is most interesting are the interviews with legends of graphic design, like Vignelli. Among the many topics are the exact 1957 origin and the degree that it is the universal font.
