PBS Thirteen invites tri-state area teachers to a special, FREE
In February 2008, Thirteen/WNET will be premiering a new, four-hour
documentary series titled AFRICAN AMERICAN LIVES 2, a follow-up to the
groundbreaking 2006 series AFRICAN AMERICAN LIVES. Hosted by renowned
scholar, author, and activist Henry Louis Gates, Jr., AFRICAN AMERICAN
LIVES 2 will profile some of the nation's most intriguing and well-known
contemporary African Americans-including Chris Rock, Morgan Freeman,
Maya Angelou, and Tina Turner--in a fascinating way.
Combining personal interviews, historical investigation, and genetic
research, Professor Gates and a team of experts set out once again to
uncover the unique and powerful family histories of these celebrities,
and also profile a special guest selected from the general public. By
using available genealogical information, family lore, and a DNA sample
from each guest, the series will explore the mysteries and surprises of
the guests' origins and heritage, and provide a compelling portrait of
African American history.
SPACE FOR THIS WORKSHOP IS LIMITED! Seats will be granted on a first
come, first served basis.
Please respond by FRIDAY, JANUARY 18th if you would like to attend.
Please RSVP with your NAME, EMAIL ADDRESS, and PHONE NUMBER to
